Legal Analytics has been established specifically to help law firms to promote their websites to Internet consumers who are looking for a local solicitor who can offer the advice or help they require.
Consumers are increasingly gaining the habit of accessing the Internet to find suppliers of products or services – be they national or local.
Many of us now switch on the computer, choose a search engine (Google, Yahoo or MSN for example) and enter a name or a search phrase – rather than find and pick up a copy of Yellow Pages or Thomsons and search through the pages.
If we want a local solicitor we will then typically type in “solicitor in Town” or more specifically perhaps “family solicitor in Town”. When the search engine produces a listing, research indicates that the vast majority of consumers will look only at the firms listed on the first two pages with many looking at just the first page (notwithstanding that the search engine may indicate a further 20 pages of listings!)
The consumer then makes a choice from the listing on the first one or two pages of results – perhaps clicking onto a few selected web pages in turn before making a final choice. This means that if your website is not listed on the first one or two pages your firm will almost certainly not even be considered!
